Artist Statement
Bonnie Carter is an emerging watercolor artist who has already been published in "Artist's Magazine" and won awards at Splash of Watercolor 2009 and 2010 and The 2009 Viera Art Show. A little like Grandma Moses…she is a late bloomer! Over the years she has stayed busy working, raising children, and pursuing different creative interests. Colors and patterns have always interested Bonnie. After working in stained glass and quilts, and finally taking a painting class at the local library, she fell in love with watercolor.
"Watercolor painting is my passion! I love squeezing out fresh paint and seeing where it takes me.", says Bonnie. Her paintings express her love of color and are never boring. She paints almost daily in her home studio and joins seven other women (Painting Partners) once a week at her art teacher's studio. She is a member of the Art and Antique Studio in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne, Florida, as well as several art associations in Florida including the Florida Watercolor Society, the Brevard Cultural Alliance, the Strawbridge Art League, and the Brevard Watercolor Society. Bonnie takes advantage of workshops presented by well-known artists, such as Janet Rogers, Sue Archer and others.
Her subject matter often documents the unique faces and places that catch her attention on her many travels with her husband. Like Grandma Moses, she hopes to continue painting long into her winter years!
