Dorothy Rhines - Artist Statement
When taking a photo, Dorothy captures what she is looking for in a painting, then decides if it should be a watercolor or an oil painting. She loves each challenge which often inspires her more than the subject itself.
Over her 50 year painting career she has received many awards. During this time, she has studied with many well known and established artists, taking what she learned and applying it to her own style. You will notice that her work is designed to go with the decor of a home. This is in part to her years working as an interior designer which also helped her in many ways to become the artist that she is today, as well as opening many doors to the art world over the years.
