Carol Ann Johnson Bio –
As a young girl growing up in Indiana, I always had a creative bent. I used to design and make my own clothes as a teenager. However, in my little country school, we had no art instruction to speak of, so I concentrated on language. I subsequently graduated from Ball State University with a double major in English and French. I took a class in charcoal in college, but it didn’t appeal to me. Thus, there was almost no art (save for scrapbooking) in my life until I retired.
I went on an extended sailing trip to the Bahamas about ten years ago and discovered that I enjoyed painting. I have painting since, primarily using watercolor. Although I found it rewarding, I seldom produced work that I felt was adequate to exhibit. About a year ago, I began exploring colored pencil art and have more recently been concentrating on this medium exclusively. I have studied with the artist Mark Menendez and have completed several video courses on colored pencil. I am happy with my progress and have sold several paintings including some commissions for portrait work and portraits of pets. I have enjoyed both of these genres and would like to pursue them further.
I am honored to be a part of the Art & Antique Studio and am looking forward to growing among these talented artists.
