Margaret Culver: Acrylic Paintings for the Modern Equestrian

Margaret Culver is an artist who features acrylic paintings for the modern equestrian. She has been an avid horsewoman for several decades, Foxhunting and competing in Hunter/Jumper horse shows. A member of the Metamora Hunt, she lives on a Michigan horse farm in the heart of Foxhunting country and currently rides her big Belgian Warmblood mare. She has studied at the Vero Art Museum and the Foosaner Art Museum in Florida. In Michigan, she studies at The Studio. She has painted with internationally known mixed media painter, Frits Van Eeden and in Michigan with nationally known artist Diann Benoit. Margaret’s paintings have been exhibited in juried shows in both Florida and Michigan. She has been a featured artist in various galleries and several of her paintings have received awards. Her paintings are also sold at horse shows. Some of her paintings have gone to international homes and can be found in different States across the US. This year one of her painting was exhibited at the Vero Beach Art Museum. That painting was also made into a streetlight banner and can be viewed on a Vero Beach Roadway. Next winter, her work will appear in the Plum Gallery in St. Augustine.

Margaret has had a varied career history, working for most of her life as a Special Education teacher. During that time, second jobs included serving for 10 years as the Director of the Michigan Student Film & Video Festival at the Detroit Institute of Arts, winning a national Telly award for a short film she produced, and gathering two local Emmy nominations for TV shows she produced. Margaret was also recognized with the Michigan Media Educator award for her work with students in media. Another job she had was working for the Michigan Hunter/Jumper Association. In her competitive riding years, training with Tim Wright of Waverly Farm, she won several Medals and Hunter championships.

Margaret continues to demonstrate her passion for horses through her art.
